- Use 1.5 cups small grain rice
- Get 2/3 cup moong dal
- Use 2/3 cup masoor ki dal
- Take 1 big onion (chopped)

- Prepare 2 dry red chillies
- Get 2 cardamom

- Take 2 tbsp ghee
- Provide 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- Provide 1 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves

Instructions to make Achari khichdi:
- Wash and drain water from rice and dals. Add oil to pan and let it hot. Add bay leaf, dry red chillies, cumin seeds, cardamom, cinnamon,cloves and let them crackle. Add onion and let it be translucent. Add ginger a paste.
- In a pan add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and water and mix well and add to the pan. After 1 minute add 1/3 cup of water. Cook well. Add rice and dals.
- Saute for 4 minutes. Add to hot water. Add fried vegetables. In medium flame Cook using lid for 8 minutes. Stir occasionally. Low the flame. Cook for 15 minutes.
- Add mango pickle and mix well. Cook for 1 minute. Add green chillies,garam masala,ghee, coriander leaves.
