  1. Take 100 grams of dal, clean it. Keep it in the cooker. Take twice as much water.
  2. Cut onions, tomatoes, green chillis, coriander as shown.
  3. Add chilli powder, turmeric. Cook for 3 whistles on medium flame
  4. Add 2 teaspoons of tamarind and paste and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix and taste.
  5. Take 2 tablespoons of ghee, add 1 red chilli, 1 tsp mustard seeds, cook for a 15 seconds, add jeera, 2 stems of curry leaves, 4 cut garlic cloves and one pinch of asafoetida. Let it cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Add it to dal. Let the dal cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
