The majority of us have a fairly good idea of what healthy eating is: lots of fruits and vegetables and not too much fat and sugar. But when it comes to kids, knowing what’s healthy is simply the start. And even in case you keep’healthy' it doesn’t imply that your kid will eat it.

There’s hope. Kids need some additional encouragement and guidance along with a few of these strategies your child is guaranteed to eat healthy.

Make a gatekeeper.

It is likely that the simplest way to get your kids to eat healthy is to remove the less-healthy options. Take control over what food and snack choices are in your house. If a kid is hungry they’ll eat it if there isn’t an alternative. Have you ever heard of a child starving to death as his parents would not feed him potato chips?

Keep healthy meals in sight.

As for those less-than-good-for-you foods, keep them in high cabinets and from your child’s reach. Organize your refrigerator and cabinets so that healthy foods are the first foods you see. If you choose to have some unhealthy choices in the home keep them from sight and also you and your kids will be much less likely to choose them as a option.

Make healthy food convenient.

Wholesome foods, especially fruits and vegetables require little preparation which is wonderful for your’starving' kid and you. Take a fruit basket at eye level in the counter at all times or have a container with carrots and celery sticks prepared to go in the refrigerator. You could be surprised at how many more fruits and vegetables that your child will consume simply by having them visible and easy to catch.

Make learning about food fun.

Taking some of the mystery out of where foods come from can work wonders for some discerning eaters. Plant a vegetable garden as a family endeavor and set your child in charge of watering and picking the ripe vegetables. Children that are involved are more likely to be a willing player during the eating process.

Keep Your Eye on Portion sizes.

Parents frequently stress over how much their children should be eating. Whether you are attempting to acquire a particular eater to take a bite of anything green or restrict the amount of dessert your sweet-toothed kid needs watching portions is necessary. Knowing the extent of a healthy portion will give you some fundamental perspective. You may use the USDA’s Guidelines for Healthy Eating to learn about what a healthy part is.

Set a healthy example.

Remember that eating foods together isn’t only a wonderful way to grab in your family’s day it is also the ideal time to role-model healthy eating habits.

Steps to make Spicy Pulled Pork Sandwiches for Impatient People:
  1. Mix all spice rub ingredients. (Crack whole black peppercorns in a bag with a meat hammer. Show them who's boss).
  2. Pat pork dry and coat with the spice rub.
  3. Heat a frying pan till hot with olive oil (low 5-10min, med 3-4 min, then med-high), then sear the pork on all sides until seriously browned(/burned), about 3-4 minutes each side.
  4. Reduce heat (med-low) and cover, cook until done (about 10-15 minutes) test doneness by touch. Keep checking. (Can be done a day in advance, cool and chill, wrapped in fridge). It's cool to burn the crap out of the bottom here, it adds to the flavor in the end.
  5. Score outside of pork with lengthwise knife cuts (helps pull the moisture IN).
  6. In heavy pot, combine pork with enough water to just cover it. Add cider vinegar and 1/3 cup BBQ sauce.
  7. Bring to boil and then simmer over medium heat covered, 1 hour or more.
  8. Remove pork and shred with forks.
  9. Dump out pot, add remaining bottle of BBQ sauce in pan over medium high, stir in shredded pork and heat thoroughly, allowing sauce to soak into pork.
  10. Steam buns in pot with steamer rack over high, about 2 minutes. (I ignored, was too hungry).
  11. Top bottom half of bun with pork, pickles and onions. Finish with top half of bun.

I threw this recipe together real quick because I set out pork chops this morning but then by late afternoon I didn't feel like fried pork chops so I.
