The ingredients needed to make Bassaru:
- Get 1 handfull of coriander leaves
- You need 1 cup green gram
- Take 1/4 cup bengal gram soaked
- Prepare 1/4 cup cow pea
- Use 3 bunches kirkire soppu/ green leafy vegetable
- Provide 2 onions
- Take 1 tomato
- Get Tamarind
- Get 1.5 tablespoon sambar powder
- Prepare 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
- You need 5 garlic clove
- Take 4 red chillies
- Prepare 2 Green chillies
- Get 1 teaspoon cumin and mustard
- Provide 1 teaspoon chanadaal
- Prepare 1 handfull of Curry leaves
- Take 4 tablespoon oil
- Get As needed Salt
Steps to make Bassaru:
- Clean the leafy vegetable and chop. Cook with green gram, cow pea and bengal gram with little salt and water for 1 whistle in cooker. Strain water and keep
- Make fine paste of 1 onion, tomato, garlic, tamarind, coconut, coriander leaves and sambar powder.
- Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a wok add mustard and cumin seeds when mustard start popping add slightly crushed garlic. After garlic are golden in colour add 3-4 pieces of sliced onion, curry leaves and 2 red chillies
- Add grounded masala paste and cook till raw smell goes off. Add strained water of cooked leafy vegetable. Add water if necessary and adjust the salt as per taste. Cook for 5-8 min.
- In a pan heat oil add mustard and cumin seeds when mustard start popping add add channadaal and green chillies. Add onions, red chilli and fry till golden brown colour. Add the cooked green gram leafy vegetable mixture and mix well. Salt is already add while cooking chek if necessary.
- Serve bas saaru and palya with ragi mudde or Rice with ghee.
