- Get 1 1/2 cup toor dal

- You need 1 tomato

Steps to make Dal tadka and jeera rice:
- Take rice, toor dal and wash them. Soak them separately.
- Then boil toor dal in cooker.
- Then take a Kadai add ghee and jeera to it. Then add soaked rice and add a little salt to taste.
- Now add water as needed and steam it until it get cooked.
- When dal boiled add turmeric and mix with spoon.
- Now take a pan add ghee, add jeera, dry red chilli, chopped ginger-garlic and onion.
- This time add tomato chopped, salt, turmeric and mix it.
- When tomatoes get soft then add dal and other masala given in the ingredient list. Boil well.
- For dal fry tempering, take a small temper bowl add ghee to it. Now add jeera, red dry chilli and red chilli powder then pour on dal. Then add coriander.
- Now serve it with jeera rice.
To make Tadka for Dal Tadka. Just before serving heat clarified butter (ghee) in a tadka pan and once hot add dried red chili. Add cumin seeds (jeera) in tadka and let them flutters. Pour the tadka on dal and serve right away. Dal tadka (restaurant style) is ready to serve.
