- Take 1 medium onion (finely chopped)

- You need 1 tsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder
- Provide 1 tsp turmeric powder

Steps to make No oil dal tadka:
- Wash and soak the dal for 10 minutes
- Pressure cook the dal with 1 glass water, little salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric for 2 whistle till the dal is cooked well
- Make a liquid by adding all masala powders except garam masala in 1 /4 cup water and keep aside
- In a pan roast cumin, bay leaf, cloves and red chilli till aroma releases
- Add onion and garlic cook for 30 seconds
- Now add 1/3 cup water and cook for 4 -5 minutes
- Now add the masala water cook for 3 minutes
- Add tomatoes and green chilli and add 1/4 cup water, pinch of salt and keep mashing the tomatoes with the help of spatula
- Cook the dal tadka masala for 2 minutes
- Now add in the toor dal add salt if needed adjust consistency with water if required
- Simmer dal for 6 minutes on a very low flame. Add coriander
- Serve dal hot with roti and rice
