- Prepare 1 cinnamon stick
- Use 2 cups water
- You need For garnishing Coriander leaves
- Provide 1 cup moong dal
- Prepare 1 1/2 cup water

- Prepare 1 big chopped onion
- Provide 2 small chopped tomato
- Use 2 tbsp oil
- Provide 1 tsp red chilli powder
- You need 1 tsp garam masala powder
- Prepare 3 dried red chilli
- Provide 2 tbsp butter (for Tadka)
- Get 1/2 tsp mustard seed
- Take 1 pinch hing
Steps to make Zeera rice with Tadka Dal:
- Soak rice for 30 min.Drain excess water
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add zeera, black cardamom and cinnamon stick. Shallow fry
- Add rice and fry it for 2 mins then add 2 cups of water and salt.
- Cook on high flame so that the water evaporates, and then cover it with any lid and cook on low flame for 2-3 mins. DO NOT COVER WITH THE PRESSURE COOKER LID. YOU CAN USE ANY OTHER LID WHICH FITS WELL.
- Now the recipe for Dal, boil Dal in pressure cooker.
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add chopped onion. Fry till golden brown. Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli, coriander, garam masala powder and salt.Add some water and mix well for 7-8 mins
- Now add the boiled Dal into the kadai mixture and mix well. Cook for 5 mins.
- Now the Tadka, heat butter in a pan. Add Zeera, mustard seeds,hing and dried chilli.fry for a min and add this to the cooked dal.
- Garnish Dal with coriander leaves and serve with yummy Zeera rice!
