Instructions to make Panchmel dal:
- Mix all dals and wash them properly. Then soak it for 15-20 minutes.
- In a pressure cooker heat 1 tbsp ghee and roast soaked dals for 5 minutes on medium heat. Stir it constantly. Add turmeric powder, salt and water, mix well. Take 3-4 whistles or until dal cooked perfectly.
- In a tadka pan heat ghee add hing and cumin seeds and saute for a minute. Add dried red chilies, green chilies and grated ginger saute for a minute and turn gas for simmer.
- Now add black salt and Kashmiri red chilli powder, pour 1 tbsp water and saute till water evaporates.
- Pour this tadka on cooked dal and bring a boil. Adjust the consistency and simmer for a few minutes. Turn of gas.
- Put garam masala and cover it. Yummy panchmel dal is ready to serve. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
